A320neo FFS using ASTi Telestra & SERA Systems Receives EASA Level D Certification

January 21, 2020

ASTi is pleased to announce that an Airbus A320neo full-flight simulator (FFS) built by AMST-Aviation B.V. in the Netherlands recently received the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) CS-FSTD(A)—Issue 2 Level D certification. The FFS uses ASTi's Telestra product to simulate the aircraft's communication system and generate all the A320's environmental and aural cue sounds.

With over 100 Level D certifications, Telestra has evolved into a dominant force in the sound simulation industry. This dynamic modeling environment features third-octave spectral analysis, automatic speaker equalization, and real-time sound manipulation. Simulator manufacturers can use Telestra’s Level D toolkit to rapidly integrate the most challenging solutions. To learn more about Telestra’s robust capabilities, go to asti-usa.com/telestra.

Accelerated integration and delivery is another of Telestra’s many benefits. A fast turnaround saves simulator manufacturers significant time and money. ASTi communication systems routinely pass Level D qualification tolerances in just a few eight-hour sessions, while tuning other systems may take weeks or months. Our engineers can work remotely on short notice, eliminating expensive and unnecessary site visits.

The simulator also integrates with ASTi’s Simulated Environment for Realistic ATC (SERA) product. Together, Telestra and SERA create a seamless, immersive air traffic control (ATC) environment. SERA fully correlates the radio environment with visuals that the flight deck crew can see out the cockpit window. Before SERA, this level of realism on the simulator flight deck was not possible.

SERA is fully compliant with the latest industry requirements for Simulated ATC Environment (SATCE) solutions. These requirements include the "Manual of Criteria for the Qualification of Flight Simulation Training Devices" (ICAO Doc. 9625, Ed. 4) and the updated ARINC Specification 439A Guidance for Simulated Air Traffic Control Environments in Flight Simulation Training Devices.
