Powerful suite of voice and communication products

Replace the Redstone MOCC program’s legacy voice communication system, the Distributed Scalable Access Net (DSAN), which had reached the end of its product life cycle.

ASTi replaced the DSAN with its Voisus product line. Voisus, a modern, proven IP-based communication system, uses robust, redundant servers and low-cost PCs with touchscreens at the operator end points. As a result, the MOCC can easily maintain and expand the system as their program requirements change.

Accelerated delivery, deployment, and integration

Accommodate the customer’s aggressive schedule, minimizing system downtime during the transition.

To meet the customer’s aggressive schedule, ASTi accelerated the system’s delivery and integration, maintaining its critical communication role and minimizing downtime. ASTi’s application engineers helped RTC staff complete installation, validation testing, and training in only five days. After fielding tasks were complete, the test center staff performed an immediate, system-wide activation, shutting off the legacy system and bringing the Voisus system online.

High reliability

Provide a system with increased reliability and capacity, ensuring the safety of MOCC aircraft and range personnel.

To increase Voisus’ capacity and reliability, the customers added redundant network servers to the system using Voisus’s cloud configuration. These servers include the following reliability features:

  • Automatic load balancer
  • Failover protection
  • Resiliency options
  • Hard-disk RAID

Network-based record and replay

Provide a reliable, user-friendly recording system that can log and export all voice communication for incident investigation and after action review.

ASTi’s provided the Communications Logger, a network-based, redundant system that continuously logs traffic from all communication assets to a RAID-capable disk. This single system can record thousands of endpoints on the network at once, including the following:

  • RoIP
  • Network intercom
  • Calling and conferencing
  • Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
  • Public telephone traffic

Customers can access the Replay tool from a browser at any workstation on the network. As a result, recordings are easy to retrieve and review.

Interoperability

Provide a system that is interoperable across the DoD's distributed training programs for inclusion in DIS-based Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) events.

The Voisus Unified Communications system is field-proven interoperable across all of the DoD’s training programs, including the following:

  • Air Force Distributed Mission Operations (DMO)
  • Army Live, Virtual, Constructive-Integrating Architecture (LVC-IA)
  • Naval Aviation Simulation Master Plan (NASMP)
  • Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE)
  • Marine Corps Aviation Distributed Virtual Training Environment (ADVTE)
  • Joint National Training Capability (JNTC)

Information Assurance (IA) compliance

Maintain ongoing compliance with stringent DoD cybersecurity certification and accreditation processes, such as DIACAP ATO and RMF.

The customer subscribed to ASTi’s IA maintenance program to receive periodic software-hardening packages that are easy to install, thus relieving their technical staff of difficult, time-consuming IA chores. ASTi’s current generation server products are based on Red Hat® Enterprise Linux®, the most certified operating system (OS) available today. The IA program is an ideal security solution for customers who require even more rigorous IA controls, conformance to DoD standards, and OS patch management throughout the product’s lifetime.

Voisus Radio Bridge

RoIP for training and operational communication

Features:

  • High-fidelity ASTi radios: Voisus includes the ASTi Radio Environment as a base feature that delivers realistic effects, including crypto, hopping, ranging, and terrain.
  • Radio Bridging: integrates live and simulated communication, provides networked repeating beyond line of sight, allows radio cross-banding where disparate radio types are patched together, and integrates with clients for shared access to live radio assets and remote control of downrange radios using a web browser.

Unified Comms Flex Client

ASTi’s newest software client provides streamlined access to public switched telephone network (PSTN), VoIP, and mobile phone assets, live land-mobile and military radios, and network-based simulated radios, intercoms, and conferencing capabilities. Optimized for Windows PCs and tablets, the Flex Client can be used in the office or out in the field to keep everyone connected.

Communications Logger

The Communications Logger is a network-based tactical communication archiving and retrieval tool. This single application records all unified communications assets, including the following:

  • Operator-to-operator intercoms
