ASTi News Feed FAQ
What is an RSS/XML or News feed?
Basically, it's an XML file that we publish to our webserver that contains ASTi's latest news and support topics. News readers and "aggregators" that support the RSS and/or RDF Internet standards can download and present this information. These types of feeds are also important to the process of syndicating news stories.
What is a news aggregator?
It's a piece of software that can retrieve multiple RSS feeds from many different locations on the Internet, and present to you the latest news from all those sources. You "subscribe" to any number of feeds in the software (one of which might be ASTi's feed), and it gives you a kind of "one-stop shopping" for news items. News aggregator software is available for Windows, Mac (incl. OS X), Linux and other platforms.
What advantages does this technology offer?
You can get the latest news from all of your favorite news sites without having to visit their websites, and without signing up for any mailing lists. That is, if those sites make an RSS/XML feed available, of course.
What RSS version does ASTi use?
ASTi's RSS/XML feeds use RSS 2.0, and are both well-formed and validated.
Where do I get ASTi's feed?
